Formed in 1985 by a group of cricketers from Braintree Cricket Club who wanted to keep fit during the winter, CFC stands for Cricket Football Club. Originally CFC Braintree the club progressed from division 4 of the Braintree & North Essex Sunday League to the premier division in successive seasons.
Premier Division champions on 3 occasions and have always been a strong member of the Braintree league, this is borne out by the fact that the first team have been runners-up 5 times, have won the Premier Division Cup 4 times and have also picked up the Charlie Turnbull Memorial Trophy on 4 occasions, Have also collected the Team of the year award 3 times.
The highlight of our history being the Essex County Sunday Junior Cup victory in 2003/04.
The club entered a Reserve team into the BNESL for the start of the 1990-91 season starting in division five and becoming champions in that first season, unfortunately it had to fold at the beginning of the 2015-16 season due to decreasing numbers and commitment. Over the years players from this side have always acquitted themselves admirably when asked to step up to the first team, They have also had there successes along the way winning the Malcolm Foy Reserve Trophy on 3 occasions and 3 Divisional championships.
The Club also has a third ‘A’ team which started in 2011-12, finishing their first season in Division Three of the BNESL in second place. They are currently in the lower reaches of division Two.
